‘A new future’: French coal plant prepares for green transition

The Emile Huchet power plant in Moselle, eastern France, has been burning coal almost continually since the 1950s. But soon, on March 31, its furnaces will go out for good to give way for a greener, cleaner future. Instead of coal, the plant will be transformed to produce energy from two greener sources: biomass and hydrogen.
