Bicyclist, 66, fatally struck by pickup truck in Bronx: cops

A 66-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck by a pickup truck in The Bronx, police said.

The deadly collision occurred shortly before 12 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Westchester and Commonwealth avenues, authorities said.

EMS brought the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, cops said.

The bicyclist was pedaling eastbound on Westchester Avenue when he collided with the pickup truck. Peter Gerber

The 24-year-old driver of the pickup remained at the scene.

No criminality is suspected at this time, authorities said.

Police said the man was operating a GMC pickup truck northbound on Commonwealth Avenue “when he collided” with the bicyclist, who was pedaling eastbound on Westchester Avenue.

“The motorist remained on the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing,” an NYPD spokesperson told The Post Saturday afternoon.

The NYPD did not release the name of the victim pending family notification.
