‘Destiny 2’ Needs Black Armory, Leviathan And Dawn Weapons Back With Origin Traits

Destiny 2

Bungie

Destiny 2 has now started a new weapon system where all new guns have an “origin trait” which depends on the foundry, location or activity they’re from. All the new or returning weapons debuted in Witch Queen and Season of the Risen have one, and Bungie has indicated they are not just doing this for future Destiny 2 weapons, but they’re going to be revisiting some older ones that make sense as well.

“When we refresh old weapons from a given source (for example, an existing raid or old pool of Seasonal weapons) we may create a new Origin Trait at the same time.”

I’ve said this since origin traits were announced, but I think there are three very specific collections of weapons that deserve to be returned to the game with origin traits, ones that were unfairly murdered by weapon sunsetting in the first place.

Season of the Forge’s Black Armory Weapons – A beloved set of weapons that I would argue are probably the most fan-requested for them to return, obviously with both new perk options but also an Black Armory, Ada-1-based origin trait. Those weapons are:

Hammerhead (Machine Gun)
Kindled Orchid (Hand Cannon)
Blast Furnace (Pulse Rifle)
The Ringing Nail (Auto Rifle)
Tartara Gaze (Sniper Rifle)
Stryker’s Sure-Hand (Sword)
The Spiteful Fang (Bow)

I’m going to leave off the Black Armory “themed” weapons that could also drop like Tango-45 and Baligant, but you could also bring back:

Tempered Dynamo (Fusion Rifle)
Threat Level (Shotgun)
No Feelings (Scout Rifle)
Bellowing Giant (Rocket Launcher)

The concept of bringing back raid weapons leads me to my next idea:

Midnight Coup

Bungie

Leviathan Weapons – I thought about saying Season of Opulence weapons here, but given that I think there will be a season this year about finding Calus and the Leviathan, I think it would be fantastic to bring back a version of the Leviathan raid weapons with their own origin trait. Those would be:

Ghost Primus (Auto Rifle)
Inaugural Address (Pulse Rifle)
Conspirator (Scout Rifle)
It Stared Back (Sword)
Mob Justice (SMG)
Sins of the Past (Rocket Launcher)
Alone as a God (Sniper Rifle)
Midnight Coup (Hand Cannon)

And then we will skip ahead all the way to:

Breachlight

Bungie

Season of Dawn’s Sundial Weapons – This was the last set of weapons before sunsetting kicking in, meaning Worthy and Arrival weapons are still unsunset, but this great slate of Dawn weapons remains dead. Bring them back with a Saint-themed origin trait. They are:

Steelfeather Repeater (Auto Rifle)
Patron of Lost Causes (Scout Rifle)
Perfect Paradox (Shotgun)
Gallant Charge (Fusion Rifle)
Martyr’s Retribution (Waveframe Grenade Launcher)
Line in the Sand (Linear Fusion Rifle)
Breachlight (Sidearm)

I suppose you could consider bringing back the Osiris Mercury weapons for the third time as well, but I’d say the priority is the Dawn ones themselves.

These are my picks for what I’d love to see return with both new perks and new origin traits. They make the most sense in terms of both being banded together with a common theme, and also being already currently sunset. We’ll see if Bungie agrees.
