Homeless and hospice charity Crash set to benefit at 2022 CN Awards

Must Read

Crash, the charity that puts construction teams to work helping homeless people and hospices, will be the beneficiary of a new appeal at the upcoming 2022 Construction News Awards.

Last year, attendees dug deep to give an amazing £21,337 to Crash on the night of the awards. Guests will be urged to beat that total at his year’s CN Awards, a gala black-tie event to be held on 14 July at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane.

In December 2021, CN profiled the work that Crash was overseeing at Emmaus Village Carlton, a charity near Bedford, which provides work and accommodation for local homeless people. The project amply demonstrated how Crash brings together capabilities from across the industry to make a difference – in this case, harnessing the skills of VolkerFitzpatrick and Arcadis, among others, to improve and expand a vital local facility.

The charity said: “Crash’s work is only possible thanks to the generosity of the construction industry, with the CN Awards demonstrating how a partnership between the industry and Crash can build a more caring society.”

It added: “Well-designed and expertly built environments have a positive effect on how we all feel and behave. This is especially true for vulnerable homeless people, and children and adults with a life-limiting illness. The donations raised on the evening through a charity collection and silent auction will help to construct places that care for people when they’re most in need.”

No fewer than 116 companies have been shortlisted across 21 separate categories for this year’s awards.

CN editor Lem Bingley commented: “The CN Awards provide an amazing showcase for the best in construction and every year the judges are blown away by the industry’s latest endeavours. But the work done by Crash is no less impressive and inspiring – offering a helping hand to people at their lowest ebb. This selfless charity deserves our full support on an uplifting night of celebration.”
