‘Moon Knight’ Surges To Pass All Other Disney Plus Marvel Shows’ Audience Scores

Moon Knight is starting to pick up steam after more and more viewers have seen its pilot, and as we speak, its audience scores are tied for the highest the Disney Plus MCU series have seen to this point. While it may drop in time, here’s how things stand right now in terms of Rotten Tomatoes audience score:

Audience Score:
Moon Knight – 94%

What If…? – 94%

Loki – 91%

Hawkeye – 91%

WandaVision – 88%

Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 85%

Additional reviews have also propelled Moon Knight up several points from where it was previously, and it has now passed Falcon and the Winter Soldier in terms of critic reviews, when previously it was last:

Critic Score:
What If…? – 94%

Loki – 92%

Hawkeye – 92%

WandaVision – 91%

Moon Knight – 87%

Falcon and the Winter Soldier – 86%

Generally speaking, reaction to Oscar Isaac’s pilot has been tremendously positive among fans, though I have heard a few critics say the pilot is better than the next few episodes that follow, which were ones screened by critics. Regardless, plus or minus a few percent, this does not seem to be a “miss” in any real way by Marvel, as every single series being above 85% approval for both critics and audiences is a win, and echoes the consistently well reviewed MCU on the big screen.

We will have to see where a flurry of upcoming shows will stack up, which include Ms. Marvel, Echo, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion and others, in addition to Loki and What If…? season 2, which I believe are the only two existing shows confirmed to be getting second seasons, rather than pivoting into movies (WandaVision leading into Doctor Strange, Falcon and the Winter Soldier leading into Captain America 4). We’re not yet sure if Moon Knight is destined for a second season, but my guess would be yes, as I’d be surprised if they told his whole story in just six total episodes. I maintain I think Moon Knight will be key in setting up Doctor Doom for the future, but we’ll need more than one episode before I can prove that theory. But things certainly seem to be trending in that direction.

Moon Knight performing this well is especially impressive given that it’s the only series to have zero anchors in the existing MCU. All the other series had actors, characters or voicework from existing MCU properties that were “spun off” into a series, but Moon Knight and Isaac are starting from scratch, and still doing a rather good job of it. We’ll see what this week’s episode brings on Wednesday.
