‘Never Forget,’ the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Renews Pennsylvanians’ American Spirit

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa.—On Sept. 11, 2021, hundreds of people gathered at the Garden of Reflection in Lower Makefield Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to remember those who lost their lives on that day 20 years ago. Eighteen residents of Bucks County and nine from Lower Makefield Township were lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the highest losses throughout Pennsylvania. The spirit of America—patriotism—has brought the families and supporters of these victims back together 20 years later, as demonstrated during the ceremony. Bucks County Prothonotary Judi Reiss lost her 23-year-old son, Joshua Reiss, 20 years ago on Sept. 11. Joshua Reiss, then 23, was the youngest international bond trader at the prestigious Cantor Fitzgerald financial firm, working on the 102nd floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower.
