New details from the strike in Yemen: This evening (Friday), 15 fighter jets struck two ports in Yemen – Hodeidah and Salif – and dropped 35 bombs on them.
According to an IDF source, the goal was to damage the Houthis’ main source of income and, in effect, impose a naval blockade on the terror organization.
Following the strike, vessels up to 80 meters in length will no longer be able to dock at the targeted ports – a move that will hinder the Houthis’ ability to receive supplies. The IDF says that the ports are also used by the Houthis to bring weapons and military equipment into Yemen.
The IDF said the strike was a response to the recent missile and UAV launches toward Israel. They also noted that Israel’s air defense systems are currently achieving about a 90% interception success rate against missiles launched from Yemen, but emphasized that there is no room for complacency.
