Diamondbacks’ Kevin Ginkel takes line drive off knee, exits game vs. Mets in scary moment

Kevin Ginkel’s injury could be heard. 

Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo drilled the Diamondbacks pitcher in the knee with a line drive during the sixth inning of the two teams’ clash Saturday afternoon at Citi Field.

A loud smack could be heard as the ball hit Ginkel’s knee, and he was quickly on the ground writhing in pain. 

Catcher Gabriel Moreno was able to corral the ball and throw out Nimmo at first, but concern quickly emerged for Ginkel.

He remained on the ground for a few moments before he was helped off the field.

The Diamondbacks were leading 6-1 at the time. 

Bryce Jarvis replaced Ginkel, who didn’t give up a run in an inning pitched.

Ginkel had replaced starter Slade Cecconi, who tossed 4 ⅔ innings and gave up just one run, five hits and struck out four batters.
