The Israeli embassy in The Hague was vandalized by three individuals on Tuesday. The suspects were arrested by Dutch police shortly after the attack.

“Early this morning, the entrance to the Israeli embassy in The Hague was, smashed and defaced with red paint,” Israeli Ambassador to the Netherlands Modi Ephraim wrote in a post on 𝕏, sharing an image of the scene.

“This cowardly act is yet another illustration of the dangerous consequences of rising hatred and incitement.”

Ephraim said Israel is “confident that the Dutch authorities will take all necessary measures to prevent such attacks in the future.”

In addition to being the seat of government in the Netherlands, The Hague is home to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC), where Israel has faced significant opposition.

On Tuesday, the Hind Rahab Foundation submitted a complaint to the ICJ accusing top IDF officials of war crimes due to the recent killing of Anas al-Sharif, the Al Jazeera journalist whom the IDF said “was responsible for advancing rocket attacks against Israeli civilians” and was the leader of a Hamas cell.

In December 2023, South Africa filed a case at the ICJ accusing Israel of genocide.

While the Dutch government did not join the case, it has been critical of the Israeli government.

Last month, a report from the Dutch National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism mentioned Israel in a section titled “Subversive Influence to Alter Public Perception.”

“Israel is…attempting to influence political and public opinion abroad, including in the Netherlands,” the report stated .
