The Israeli military successfully intercepted another ballistic missile launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen on Sunday morning.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement saying, “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the IAF prior to crossing into Israeli territory. Sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol.”
On Saturday, the Houthi rebels attempted to launch a ballistic missile towards Israel, however, the missile broke apart over Saudi Arabia before reaching Israel. According to some reports in Israeli media, the missile was intercepted by U.S. air defense systems shortly after launch.
Over the past few days, the Houthi rebel group, Ansar Allah, has launched several ballistic missiles at Israel, after threatening that it would resume attacks in support of Hamas if the Gaza ceasefire was broken.
On Friday evening, as many Israelis were finishing the traditional Shabbat meal, air raid sirens across central Israel were activated due to a Houthi ballistic missile, which was also intercepted by the Arrow missile defense system.
According to reports in Palestinian media, shrapnel from the interception of that missile fell in the town of Dahariya, near Hebron.

At the same time, in Yemen, it was reported tonight that several field commanders and leading elements in the missile launch system were killed tonight in U.S. military airstrikes in Marib province.
On Saturday, Houthi media accused the United States of attacking the airport in Hodeida, in the latest series of airstrikes carried out by the U.S. against the Houthis over repeated attacks on shipping and U.S. military vessels in the Red Sea, as well as attacks on Israel.
Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV, said three strikes had targeted the Hodeida airport on Saturday.
While the U.S. military did not issue an official confirmation, the military’s Central Command posted a message to 𝕏 with videos of fighter jets launching from an aircraft carrier with the hashtag “ #HouthisAreTerrorists .”

The Houthi official Saba news agency also reported bombings in the districts of Sahar and Kitaf in the northern province of Saada and attacks on the central province of Marib.
