“King of the Hill” may have been off the air for 15 years, but its audience hasn’t gone anywhere.
Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ beloved adult animated sitcom was revived for a 14th season that premiered on Hulu on Aug. 4, and the first episode reached 4.4 million views in its first seven days of streaming. That total, calculated by dividing total number of time watched divided by the episode’s runtime, makes it the most-watched adult animated season premiere across Hulu and Disney+ in five years. Additionally, the season premiered at No. 1 on Hulu’s Top 15 and has remained among the top five titles since then, with the series overall accruing more than 1 billion hours streamed to date across Hulu and Disney+.
The revival also majorly renewed interest in previous seasons of “King of the Hill.” According to Disney, Seasons 1 through 13 have grown in viewership by 26 million hours, or by 41% increase in viewership, since buzz around Season 14 kicked off in early March.

Disney is also touting the show’s success on social media, where it has accrued more video views than any other Hulu original comedy this year and driven more engagements, shares and new followers than any of this year’s first-season Hulu originals.
“King of the Hill” originally aired on Fox from 1997 to 2009, with its final four episodes airing in syndication in 2010. The revival was officially ordered at Hulu in January of 2023, though there had been chatter about bringing the show back as early as 2017. Season 14 has been received positively, achieving a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
