Destiny 2’s Season Of The Risen Has A Roadmap Now, Kind Of

Must Read

Destiny 2

Bungie

It’s a little unusual for Bungie not to issue a roadmap for one of its Destiny 2 seasons, as fans have gotten used to the image-filled calendars that accompany pretty much all of them. But with just really four main weeks of Risen story missions, it seems they were fine just doing a line list of calendar of what’s coming in the next two months in the most recent TWAB.

Fortunately, the Destiny 2 community stepped up to make them prettier. Fans have designed their own versions using that data. That’s @iixadii above and @TheVanguardBR below. You can see bigger versions of them here and here, and DestinyTracker pointed me in their direction in the first place.

So what are we actually looking at here?

For the most part, it’s the alternation of Iron Banner and Trials Labs experiments, as there are five different Labs taking place over the next two months in total. I don’t care much about that, but rather the rest of it is somewhat interesting.

Next week, as in a few days from now, we will get Legend PsiOps Battlegrounds, and I’m not quite sure I understand the purpose of those other than maybe completing some triumphs. I’ve gotten every pattern on Risen weapons now, so there’s really no reason to run those anymore outside of a weekly pinnacle for killing champions. Curious how different Legend versions will be.

There are also new Vow of the Disciple challenges this week, as those will be needed to get the raid title. Vow of the Disciple Master Difficulty launches on April 19, and that will hopefully answer some questions about what Adept/Timelost weapons are going to be like for that mode, and how that works with the new crating system, as we’ve heard nothing about how those two ideas are going to interact.

Finally, the only real event on this whole calendar is the arrival of Guardian Games, which does not normally take place during an expansion season, but given Witch Queen’s delay, that’s how the timing lined up. This is the third annual Guardian Games, which is not my favorite event both in terms of activities and aesthetics. But I hope maybe we get a new exotic. Year 1 gave us Heir Apparent and year 2 gave us its catalyst, but we’ll see. And with Hunters and Titans winning the last two years, now it’s my Warlocks’ turn. Maybe. Probably not.

It stands to reason there could be some sort of surprise buried in here, but Bungie has not really sprung one of those on us in quite a while, and we already have our seasonal exotic mission in the form of Vox Obscura, so I wouldn’t expect another. Seems like kind of just a chill next two months where you can do random challenges and grind hard mode raid and get patterns and such. Fine with me as uh, I should have a new baby to take care of during this exact window of time…
