A joint venture involving Henry Boot’s development arm has been appointed to deliver the first phase of a £1bn campus for cyber and digital innovation in Gloucestershire.
HBD X Factory, a joint venture between Henry Boot’s property investment and development business and Factory, a Germany-founded multinational, has been awarded the scheme by Cheltenham Council.
The £1bn Golden Valley Development will be a 200-acre mixed-use community, including two million square feet of commercial space and 3,700 new homes. The first phase involves delivery of a mixed-use community clustered around a new 150,000 square foot National Cyber Innovation Centre, which is being developed by Factory.
A statement from Henry Boot said it is currently developing design options for the project and plans to make it sustainable. It aims to use smart technology and modern methods of construction.
Henry Boot chief executive Tim Roberts said: “HBD’s pioneering joint venture with Factory provides an additional competitive edge, combining our exemplar sustainable construction techniques with Factory’s technical expertise, presenting an exciting opportunity to deliver upon the JV’s visionary ambitions and access the enormous potential of the UK’s tech sector, whilst supporting the Levelling Up agenda.”
The HBD X Factory joint venture was established in August 2021, specifically to target developments in the UK tech sector.
